hi all,
THE STAR SCREEN AWARDS NOMINATIONS GOT PUBLISHED RECENTLY.
I AM SURPRISED THAT GROUND BREAKING CONTRIBUTION FOR LYRICS BY PRASOON JOSHI IS MISSING, SONGS LIKE, arziyaan, rehna tuh, dil gira dafatan, masakali, yeh dilli hai merey yaar" COME BY ONCE IN A LIFE TIME IN A COUNTRY LIKE INDIA WHICH HAS A AMAZING LEGACY OF POETRY IN CINEMA.
WE WILL ONLY DISCOURAGE GOOD WRITING AMONG THE FUTURE GENERATION OF WRITERS IF PLATFORMS LIKE SCREEN CHOOSE TO IGNORE SUCH AN EFFORT, BUT TELL THE AUDIENCES THAT THEIR FAVORITE ALBUM ( D6- IS THE FAST BECOMING THE HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM OF THE DECADE) IS NOT WORTHY OF ITS LYRICS.
ALSO THE TECHNICAL JURY HAS NOT SEEM TO NOTICE, BINOD PRADHAN'S CAMERA WORK, - THE ENTIRE FILM WAS SHOT ON CAMERA'S SUSPENDED ON BUNGEE ROPES, WHERE HE HAD ESPECIALLY INVENTED A DOLLY. - BESIDE THE FACT THAT STUDENTS AND MASTERS OF CINEMATOGRAPHY HAVE APPLAUDED THE EFFORT
SYNC SOUND BY NAKUL KAMTE IS AGAIN MISSING, THE ENTIRE FILM WAS SHOT ON LOCATION AND LIVE/SYNC SOUND- ITS A MIRACLE IN ITSELF.
the list published is
1. BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (FEMALE) - Divya Dutta
2. BEST MUSIC - A.R. Rahman
3. BEST PLAYBACK SINGER (MALE ) - Mohit Chauhan - Masakali
4. BEST PLAYBACK SINGER ( FEMALE) - Rekha Bhardwaj - Genda phool
5. BEST ART DIRECTION – Samir Chanda -
6. BEST ENSEMBLE CAST - Delhi 6
yes, i agree with you & thats the face of the voice of selected fews....
ReplyDeletethanks for the blog & all the best...
completely agree. in fact in the best music category Dev D & Gulaal are missing. i wonder who is in the jury?
ReplyDeletethat is just ridiculous. prasoon should be a cinch for any of the songs of delhi 6 - especially 'dil gira kahin par' and 'masakali'. but do yourself a favour and look at screen's choices over the last few years. I suspect you will feel better. its traditionally crap.
ReplyDeleteRakeysh,
ReplyDeleteI can understand your plight. But am not surprised. Isnt this been the trend off late. Wont be surprised if some stupid howler like "Chor Bazaari" ends up winning the accolades for the best composition / poetry.
Sheel
And ok..forgot this. Its unanimous amongst the Bollywood stalwarts that BLUE is the greatest technical wizadry that mankind has witnessed ever, so all those pathbreaking technical creations (as described by you) will hold no place in front of the mindless money guzzling sequences of BLUE.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right' Prasoon Joshi is our only hope today he keeps poetry alive for us, and his work in delhi 6 is a milestone,Dararien dararien hain mathey pe maula(masterpiece is't it?) and then Rehna tu and then masak kali(ghar tera saloni badal ki colony wow!).Rakesh Mehra has full right to get upset, his films Rang de basanti and Delhi 6 have given immortal music and poetry to us.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you writing in all caps. It is difficult to comprehend. Hope you didnt write the script of Delhi 6 like that ;)
ReplyDeleteIts indeed a shame that such beautiful poetry is being ignored, heard something so mesmerising after a longtime...
ReplyDeleteIts also shocking to see Dev D n Gulaal missing from the nominations in this category.
Its difficult to understand such ignorance as it defies the general norm, as in what sells will be noticed. The masses have acknowledged the musical n poetic talent of all the 3 films.
It was more like the Reliance Big Picture awards then the Star Screen Awards.
